Around it gather her sensual allies: shatavari, the queen of the Ayurvedic women's herbs — "she of a hundred roots" — the deep tonic of feminine vitality and ojas; damiana, the spark of pleasure and the sacral fire; and cacao, the ceremonial heart-opener, food of the gods, lifting the blood with its gentle warmth. The Lover, the Bloom, the one who shines and lets herself be seen.

1–2 tsp, covered, 8–10 minutes. Boil the water, then let it cool a breath before pouring. Up to two cups a day, morning and night. (Gently stimulating — lovely by day.)

Unexpected and uniquely her own — earthy and umami from the shatavari, with a spicy-aromatic edge from the damiana, rich bitter notes from the cacao, and rose softening it all. Savory, floral, and complex rather than sweet — a cup that can't quite be categorized.

Not for use during pregnancy or while nursing (contains damiana, and cacao naturally contains caffeine). Cacao is gently stimulating — take care if you're sensitive to caffeine, prone to palpitations, or taking stimulant or MAOI medications, and keep away from pets (theobromine is toxic to animals). Shatavari is estrogenic and in the asparagus family — a note if you have a hormone-sensitive condition or an asparagus allergy.
