Who’s Behind the Cup

Hi, I’m Kayla.

founder of sutchaTEAS

Born Out of Devotion

sutchaTEAS is more than a tea brand. It is my personal way of life.

The name holds every iteration of girlhood and womanhood I’ve moved through to become the woman here now—the one who will keep un-becoming into becoming. Broken open, sutcha is sutra + cha: sutra, Sanskrit for thread, for weaving; cha, Japanese for tea. So sutchaTEAS is the weaving of teas—and far more than that, the weaving of a life: through beauty, death, rebirth, and communion with the subtle realities all around us.

Said another way, some pronounce her sutcha-tease—and I let them. That wink belongs here. For six years I danced as Selene—an exotic dancer initiated, night by night, into the sacred feminine and the ways of embodiment: unhidden, unashamed. sutchaTEAS is playful and devoted to its own roots at once—a play on words and entirely true to where it comes from: my six years as Selene, a decade of yoga and its initiations, and the slow art of tea.

I listen to the herbs as medicine—through Chinese medicine, Ayurveda, and intuitive plant work. But the herbs aren’t here to fix you. There is nothing to fix. They’re here to return you to the body—to teach you to listen to what’s real and present, to honor it, love it, and let it gently shift, in Love. Each blend is sat with before it is made: birthed through intuitive listening, herbal knowledge, and the archetypal frameworks of my ongoing path toward ordination as a priestess.

So consider this an invitation—one that can begin with something as small as the kettle. Water warming, steam rising, a pause cut into the middle of an ordinary day. From there: to play, to commune, to stop taking healing—and life—quite so seriously. To drop into the body and let the present moment lead. To re-awaken your life-force, your shakti.

These are not teas meant to heal you. Though they will—simply because you chose to slow down, to honor, and to be with what is.

sutchaTEAS. Where life is ceremony.
